Week 2 The Falcons are only heading into their sec

Atlanta Falcons stock up Julio Jones Jersey On Sale , stock down for ond week of the 2018 NFL season, but it feels like this season has gone on much longer. That’s what happens when you drop your first game in painful fashion, I guess, but it feels like the pressure is on any number of Falcons to perform already. But for all the grim performances from that Eagles game, there were players who played well, or at least can confidently say their arrows are pointing up against Carolina this week. Let’s talk a little bit more about that right now. Here’s our stock up and stock down report for six players. Let’s hear yours in the comments. Stock UpS Damontae KazeeNobody’s stepping into this week with a bigger opportunity or more to prove than Kazee, who must fill Keanu Neal’s angry spiked shoes. He may or may not actually play strong safety full-time, but he’ll be a starter either way.Kazee’s been so good through preseason and his first NFL game that it can be hard to tamp down on the hype, but he looks like a solid starter at the very least. RB Tevin Coleman If the Falcons would like to ride the hot hand, I assume they’ll go with Coleman this week. It’s not that his stat line was particularly impressive, all told, but he had the game’s sole touchdown on a very impressive run Julio Jones Jersey Sale , picked up a great catch early in the game, wriggled free (a moment too late) on the final play of the game, and didn’t have the pass protection problems, however limited, that plagued Devonta Freeman against the Eagles. With a physical Carolina defense coming up, Coleman’s speed should play well, and I expect a big game from him.WR Julio Jones Julio just stomped the Eagles, and he’s spent the last few seasons running all over the Panthers. Does that mean Carolina will put all their energy toward stopping him and succeed? Well...no.Julio dominated against the Eagles partly because the Falcons were willing to force-feed him, but also because even a quality cornerback like Ronald Darby simply can’t keep up with him all the time. The Panthers don’t even have the caliber of options Philadelphia brought to bear—though James Bradberry is improving—and Julio should once again get all the targets he can handle. He’s headed for a great season. Stock Down QB Matt Ryan It’s hard to imagine a worse first outing for Ryan, and the Eagles game will likely go down as one of the worst efforts of his entire career. He was sailing throws, tossing lobs, and looking skittish in the pocket throughout much of the game Replica Julio Jones Jersey , and it translated to a zero touchdown day for him with an interception and some very ugly plays. He’ll be looking to prove that was a fluke, as most of us think it was, but until he does we’ll be a little wary. WR Calvin Ridley Ridley’s just a rookie and it’s not worth putting a ton of pressure on him this early, so I’ll just say his first effort was a bit of a dud. Ridley was on the field for close to 75% of all offensive snaps but received just two targets and didn’t come away with either of them, and was a quiet presence on special teams as well. There are better—and perhaps even great—days in store for him, but he’ll head into his second game looking to rebound. DE Vic Beasley I love Vic, but this was not his finest effort, and concerns about his viability as one of a team’s best pass rushers will just continue to pile up. He was dropped back into coverage on third and long against the Eagles, for some reason, and both missed a tackle and didn’t register a sack. He did not, from my viewing of the game, bring a ton of pressure to bear Stitched Julio Jones Jersey , either. This is a critical year for Vic, who should be heading for a big contract extension after his fifth year option in 2019, but has one elite season of production and some high quality stretches of play to his name to this point. With Takk looking very good, the onus is on Beasley to start making some noise. The Atlanta Falcons kept stressing there was no need to panic during their sluggish start. That the small mistakes that kept costing them games would get cleaned up. That their banged-up roster would get healthy. That the team that began the season with Super Bowl expectations would eventually show up.Time is running out. Quickly. It may already have.Sloppy early and overwhelmed late, the Falcons were run over by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second half of a 41-17 loss on Sunday that dropped Atlanta to 1-4 and left coach Dan Quinn scrambling for answers."Truth is, the second half clearly we missed the standard that we uphold for one another today," Quinn said. "We completely missed our mark."Repeatedly.Playing in a city where they'd never won, the Falcons appeared to have a chance after they walked into the half down just 13-10 following safety Damontae Kazee's leaping end zone interception of Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger in the waning moments of the second quarter. Then it all fell apart. The league's 28th-ranked defense couldn't stop the Steelers on the ground or in the air. The offensive line couldn't protect Matt Ryan, who himself couldn't find a way to get the ball to star wide receiver Julio Jones when it mattered.Shadowed by Pittsburgh cornerback Joe Haden all afternoon, Jones finished with five receptions for a season-low 62 yards, all of them coming in the fourth quarter with the Falcons down double digits."They had a good game plan for me," Jones said. "Lot of (double coverage) Baby Julio Jones Jersey , things like that. Discouraged Matt early on in the game that two guys were going to be on me throughout the whole game."Jones came in leading the league in yards receiving but was targeted just four times while the game was competitive. Though Ryan found intermittent success elsewhere while completing 26 of 38 passes for 285 yards and a touchdown, the inability to get anything going with Jones helped Atlanta fall to 0-7-1 all-time in Pittsburgh."Obviously we want to get (Jones) involved," Ryan said. "They made a pretty concerted effort take him out and that created opportunities elsewhere."Just not nearly enough, particularly in the second half. Atlanta managed just 130 yards over the final two quarters. Running back Devonta Freeman ran eight times for 32 yards in his return after missing three games with an injury, and Ryan was sacked six times in all. His final snap encapsulated his team's nightmarish day.Ryan scrambled to his left to avoid Pittsburgh linebacker T.J. Watt only to have Watt slap the ball free. Pittsburgh's LJ Fort fell on it in the end zone with 3:35 remaining to produce the final margin."When you have success (blitzing) early, you know they are going to go back to the well throughout the game and so they did a nice job today," Ryan said.Even the special teams was not immune, allowing a blocked punt midway through the third quarter that let the Steelers to score a pair of touchdowns in a span of 2:03 to break it open."Our run game was not up to the standard that we hold one another to," Quinn said. "I thought the pass protection wasn't what we wanted, and the third down defense I thought was a problem, not just in the second half, but for the entire day."The list goes on and on. The Steelers converted 9 of 12 third downs Best Julio Jones Jersey , ran for 131 yards and in general pushed Atlanta around. The Falcons, who lost their first three games by a combined 13 points, crumbled. The loss kept Atlanta in last place in the AFC South. Not exactly where a team that won a combined 21 games in 2016 and 2017 expected to be as mid-October approaches."We're going through a little funk right now," Falcons linebacker De'Vondre Campbell said. "It happens. But it's about how we respond to it. If we sit here and feel sorry for ourselves, we're going to continue to lose. But if we lose and make corrections and the changes we need to make, then we'll be just fine."
